$237 to Build A Samsung Galaxy S4

Galaxy S4 Teardown
Galaxy S4 Teardown
How much will it cost to build a Samsung Galaxy S4? When you’re dishing out about $800 for a phone you may have thought about this question. IHS, a market research company, has recently done a teardown on a 32GB model of U.S. version of Galaxy S4. After analysis, they found that it costs about $237 to build this device, which is more than that of a 16GB iPhone 5($205) and of the Nokia Lumia 920($209).
The cost for different versions of this phone can be slightly different. For instance, the versions of the phone sold in U.S. use a Snapdragon processor from Qualcomm, which costs about $20; while those sold in Korea and other markets usea Samsung-made chip, which costs $28. But you get the idea.
So if you’re going to buy a Galaxy S4, you’re leaving approximately $580 for all the people between you and the factory. Not a bad deal… for them.
