It is well known that Apple has put Jony Ive in charge of designing and implementing OS X and iOS. Now more details on Jony Ive’s redesign for iOS 7 has appeared online, and one of sources from 9to5Mac describes the new version of iOS as “black, white and flat all over”, which mean that it will bring a flatter look to the operating system and more emphasis on black and white design elements.
According to the report, the current development version of iOS 7 will get some specific changes. The iPhone’s unlock screen, which “will drop the shiny, transparent time bar on the top of the Lock screen in exchange for a shine-free, black interface.” 9to5Mac also claims that Ive has “inspired the iOS design team to replace many of the linen and leather textures found in the current iOS, with flat white and black coloring.” Other changes consist of the addition of panorama home screen wall papers that pan as the user swipes between screens, and subtle animations in the Weather app, and the possibility of FaceTime being moved out of the Phone app into a standalone app for greater visibility.
However, 9to5Mac’s sources claims that the app icons will “lose shine, shadows and gloss” but will still be “round and just as tappable as before.”So we can get that the home screen will remain largely unchanged.
From the report we can know that Apple has tested a few different design types for the iOS 7 and that things may still change before the official announcement, but it seems reasonable to expect that aspects shown at upcomingWorldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) will be close to the final shipping version.
