With Your Smartphone You Can See, You Can Hear, and Now You Can Smell

Previously we remember some Japanese scientists created a ‘Smell-O-Vision’ screen that emits a smell from your cellphone. Now a Japanese Perfume company named Chaku created a new accessory called “Chat Perf”. The device consists of an atomizer and a small tank that attaches to the bottom of an iPhone and allows you to send good smells to users in spray form.

Apparently, “Chat Perf” can give out corresponding smells according to videos and images displayed on your phone. And with the help of a special app called “Scentee”, you can send and receive fragrances with friends who also has the accessory and app. You can also trigger smells on your own device as well when you’re in need of a good scent. The inventors also claim that the accessory will be used not only with videos and images but also with games in future. And they also plan to release a version for Android phones.
The accessory can be plugged into the 30-pin port on the iPhone 4S, so it’s not available for the iPhone 5. The price of Chat Perf is $63. Maybe a bit much for an experimental technology, but this does make the Google’s April Fool’s joke “Google Nose” a bit less of a joke.
